We’re Hiring: Homework Club Lead

We’re looking for a Homework Club Lead to help children from sanctuary-seeking families in Tower Hamlets learn, grow, and feel supported.

At Globe Community Project (GCP), we work to transform loneliness into connection for isolated and under-served communities in East London.

Our after-school Homework Club offers a safe, welcoming space where children can complete homework, strengthen their English and maths, and enjoy creative, child-centred activities.

About the role

You’ll plan and deliver weekly sessions for Key Stage 2 children, supported by a team of volunteers. The role combines teaching and coordination, helping children thrive both academically and socially.

This is a great opportunity for someone with education or community learning experience who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference in their lives.

What we’re looking for

Essential:

● Experience leading or supporting educational or after-school sessions

● Knowledge of the UK Key Stage 2 curriculum

● Confidence supporting English and maths up to age 11/12

● Experience working with children from asylum-seeking, refugee or migrant

backgrounds

● A patient, inclusive and child-centred approach

● Strong safeguarding awareness

Desirable:

● Experience supporting children with additional needs or SEN

● Ability to speak a community language

● Interest in child development

● Lived experience of migration or seeking sanctuary

Key details

● Contract: Freelance, 1-year fixed-term (potential to extend up to 4 years)

● Hours: 6 per week (must be available Thursdays 3.30–6.30pm)

● Pay: £24 per hour

● Location: Tower Hamlets, London

● Start: As soon as possible

● Eligibility: Female applicants only (Equality Act 2010 exemption); DBS check required; must have right to work in the UK.
