Help shape our future – Become a Trustee
We are looking for trustees to help us leverage the power of community to create lasting change. As a small, grassroots charity, we work closely with local people and partners to transform loneliness into connection for isolated people and under-served groups in Tower Hamlets.
As a GCP trustee, your skills and experience will make a tangible difference to the lives of hundreds of people, every year. Our Board plays a vital role in shaping our strategy, ensuring good governance, and supporting our small but dedicated team.
We are seeking people who share our values and can bring insight, constructive challenge, and enthusiasm to Board discussions. Whether you have experience developing strategic partnerships, strengthening organisational culture and people processes, leading digital transformation, or crafting compelling communications, your expertise could help us deepen our impact and reach more people.
You will be working alongside and incredibly committed team of staff, freelancers and volunteers - but don’t just take our word for it! In our January 2026 survey of staff, freelancers and volunteers, 100% said they feel their work is meaningful, 100% had a positive experience with us, and 100% would recommend it to others as a positive place to work.
You don’t need to have been a trustee before to apply, and we are especially interested in hearing from people who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We know from experience that a strong Board is one that brings together different perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
If you’re passionate about community-led change and making the world a better place, we would love to hear from you. To understand more about the ‘nuts and bolts’ see this blog post, which goes behind the scenes with board members past and present to see how they contribute.
Trustees typically commit to attending quarterly Board meetings, and contributing to sub-committees aligned with their area of expertise. In return, you’ll gain valuable governance experience, broaden your network, and play a key role in guiding a values-driven organisation.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to give back, grow your leadership experience, and help shape the future of a grassroots charity, look no further!
To find out more, including how to apply, please read our Trustee role description, or if you have specific skills, you can check the tailored briefs for Partnerships, HR, Digital, and Communications. We look forward to welcoming new voices to Globe Community Project and continuing to build a stronger, more connected community together.
The deadline for applications is Friday 20th March, 17:00.
Interviews will take place on Monday 13th April 6-8pm, Wednesday 15th April 6-8pm, and Thursday 16th April, 6-8pm, at our offices in Bethnal Green.
